About coaching

“Come to the edge”, he said. They said: “We are afraid”. “Come to the edge”, he said. They came. He pushed them and they flew. – Guillaume Apollinaire

Imagine yourself two years from now.  Do you want to be feeling the same way you do now?  What are the qualities and emotions you would like to be much better at as a result of a commitment to your own transformation?  Who do you want to be in two, five, ten years?

I am drawn to coach groups and individuals who are motivated to challenge themselves to become who or what they know they have the potential to be. I coach from the assumption that somewhere inside each of us we know what we need and what we are capable of becoming. Through the coaching relationship we will move you out of your comfort zone (especially if your comfort zone is no longer serving you) and into a zone of challenging but unlimited possibilities. Using my coaching skills backed up by a thorough understanding of recent research in neuroscience I will

• teach you communication skills and techniques to handle difficult emotions that can hijack your brain.
• help you clarify your values, talents and dreams that give your life meaning.
• work with you to create a life fully resonant with those values, talents and dreams.
• challenge you and hold you accountable to actions that get you from where you are to where you want to be.
• celebrate your strengths, your successes and even your failures (we learn the most from those).
• call you forth as an emotionally intelligent leader who will make the world better.
• help you discover or rekindle your creative powers.
• be your sounding board.
• create a space where you can try on how it feels to dream big with no constraints.
• give you powerful visual metaphors to assist you in your transformation.

You may come to me because your life isn’t what you would like it to be or specifically for assistance with work or career choices. However, I coach the whole person. All aspects of you, such as how you handle emotions, your health, relationships, money… all of these and more will come into play in our coaching sessions. I want you to live a wholehearted life. That is my goal.  Coaching with me will reconnect you to your true self, your values and your dreams.

If you are seriously thinking of working with a coach, what are you waiting for? Feel free to contact me. I would love to talk with you about what you would like to achieve through coaching. I will give you a feel of what coaching is like and answer any questions about coaching you may have. Then you can decide if coaching with me is right for you. I am happy to offer a free 30 minute session to get you started.

Brass tacks

Coaching is done either on the phone, FaceTime or Skype. It’s up to you. Sessions can be anywhere from 30-60 minutes. Most of my clients prefer to have at least three sessions a month to preserve continuity and maintain momentum. Everything that passes between us in or outside of sessions is kept strictly confidential. I adhere to the code of ethics put forward by the International Coaching Federation.

Once we’re working together we’ll establish what we want our coaching relationship to look like. This is called “The Designed Alliance”. At your Discovery Session we will discuss where you are now and where you would like to be.

In subsequent sessions we will go over challenges that have come up since your previous session and we will keep moving towards transforming you into the person you want to be. Coaching relationships last a minimum of three months but many clients find that six months or a year allows them the time to really let go of limiting beliefs and move into their new lives.

What’s the difference between coaching, therapy and consulting?

Put very simply, therapy tends to focus on the past and the reasons for one’s challenges. Coaching looks at where you are now (not why) and then we co-actively create a map for where you want to be. Coaching is not just about goals and acting on them. Coaching is about transforming your whole self: your emotions, your psychological, physical and financial health, your communication skills and empowering the leader within (and plenty more). We will create homework assignments to be done between sessions and I will hold you accountable to your agreed upon goals.

Consulting is also different from coaching. While one of the reasons you may come to me may be because of my experience as an entrepreneur, artist or leader, I am not your advisor. If you would like me to put on my “consultant hat” I am happy to do so to the best of my abilities However, I am not attached to you taking my “advice”. Our sessions are about your agenda, not mine. I am here for you.

What does coaching cost?

My rates depend on the frequency and length of our sessions. My monthly fee for three sessions is $300-$450. My fee can be negotiated in relation to your ability to pay. Please contact me for a free session.
